Obituary

SCHUYLER LAKE - Mary Elizabeth (Horan) Seamon age 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Mary was born on the family farm in Schuyler Lake on July 14, 1919, daughter of John and Delia T. (Meehan) Horan. She lived her entire life in Schuyler Lake and lived for many years in the house where she was born. She attended and graduated from Schuyler Lake School in 1937 as Salutatorian of her class. She married her beloved husband, Harry P. Seamon on October 26, 1940 in St. Josephs Catholic Church in Richfield Springs. They were happily married for 57 years until his death on March 31, 1998. Mrs. Seamon has been a real estate broker and operated Schuyler Lake Realty for many years. Besides her parents and grandparents, she was also pre-deceased by a sister, Rosemond Domion on September 1976, a son, Harry Paul Seamon, II, on August 2, 1966 and a Grandson, John Michael Seamon II on July 1, 1980. Surviving are her son and wife, John and Yvette Seamon of Schuyler Lake, Daughter and husband, Barbara and Adelbert Butler of Ocala, FL, son and wife, Daniel and Susan Seamon of Schuyler Lake, and daughter and husband Roberta and Alan Steere of Schuyler Lake, grandchildren Rebecca (John) McCord and their children, Logan, Brooke, Latham, and Payton of Warren; Jason (Samantha) Seamon and their children, Carson and Camdon of Schuyler Lake; Shannon (Gary) Merwin and their children, Delaney, Jensen, and Hayden of Schuyler Lake; Joseph Seamon and Friend Heather Landacre of Howes Cave and children, Jennifer, Joseph II, and Amy; Jeremy (Sarah) Seamon and their children, Isabelle, Gabrielle and Lincoln of Columbia; Sierra Seamon of Schuyler Lake; Scott Butler and his daughter Samantha, Laura Lee Butler, and April Butler in Florida; Christina (Jamar) Baker and their children, Adrianna, Alexis and Addison of Colorado; Ashley Steere and fianc Ian Luck of Vermont; and Tyler Steere Schuyler Lake. Mary had many special friends and having lived in the Town of Exeter her whole life, she had great knowledge of the towns history and served as the Town Historian for many years. She was also an active member of the Exeter Historical Society and Town Zoning Board of Appeals. Mary will be greatly missed by her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as a woman devoted to her family. Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James Street, Richfield Springs will be on Thursday at 9:15a.m followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in St. Marys Catholic Church, 31 Elm Street, Cooperstown, Reverend John Rosson, Pastor will officiate. Interment in St. Josephs Cemetery will take place later this spring, at a time to be announced. The family will be present in the funeral home Wednesday (today) from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Exeter Historical society or Catskill Area Hospice. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home. May the angels lead you into paradise.
