HERKIMER - Mary R. Falk passed away peacefully on the morning of January 27, 2019 at the age of 95. She was born May 22, 1923 the daughter of the late Gertrude (Metz) and Carl Falk. Having lived most of her life in Herkimer at the family home at 321 Henry Street, she attended St. Francis de Sales School and graduated from Herkimer High School. In the spring of 2010 she moved to the Mohawk Homestead where she made many friends and was well cared for. Over her adult life she worked at Mungers Department Store,the Herkimer Municipal Commission and for Niagara Mohawk for 30 years retiring in 1984. Mary had a beautiful singing voice. Her mother instilled in hera love of music that lasted throughout her life. As a devout communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church she especially enjoyed singing with the choir. She performed as a soloist at many weddings and other religious occasions. Mary enjoyed spending her summers at Big Moose Lake and Otter Lake where she could swim to her hearts content. She was involved in the community volunteering at the Food Pantry, RSVP and the Shepherds Table in her later years. Mary is survived by her brother Francis of Brooklyn, her sisters in law Mildred Falk of Newport and Bea Falk of New Milford, CT, and 15 nieces and nephews whom she loved like they were her own children. They are Kathy Falk, Jim (Karen) Falk, Chris Falk, Marleen Kalwarski, Matt (Mimi) Falk, Eileen (Walt) Lodermeier, Madeline (Jon) Falk, Don Falk, Peg (Dorn) Mar, Anne Falk, Tom Falk, Joan (Clint) Miller, Mary K. (Phil) Cosmo, Pat (Dale) Miller, and Carl (Doreen) Falk as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Jack, Charles (and wife Margaret), and Edward. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church in Herkimer on Saturday February 2, 2019 at 10:00am with the Reverend Mark Cunningham officiating. Calling hours will be in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer will be on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00pm. Burial will be in the spring at the family plot in St. MarysCemetery in Rome.
