MILFORD-Mary Arlene Hansen, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, September 21, 2018, at the Oneida Skilled Nursing Facility, Oneida. She was born on August 31, 1929, in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Harold and Gladys Tubbs Balcom. Mary was raised in Toddsville and was a graduate of Cooperstown High School. She went on to the Albany School of Beauty where she became a licensed beautician. For fifty-nine years she owned and operated the Milford Beauty Shop in Milford. On February 25, 1962 she was united in marriage to Richard K. Hansen in Milford. They shared a loving and devoted union of thirty-four years until his passing in 1996. Mary had a strong faith in God and was of the Episcopalian faith. In her leisure time she enjoyed her extensive collection of owls. To all who knew her they will always remember a kind, caring and loving lady with an unforgettable smile. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving are her brother, Harold D. Balcom Jr. of Ten Mile, TN, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Hansen will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd at 2:00pm in Hartwick Cemetery, Hartwick. The Reverend Jill Stellman Priest in Charge of Saint Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs will officiate. There are no calling hours.
