HERKIMER Mary C. Hyde Barrows, age 55 of North Prospect Street, passed away peacefully, on Thursday morning, August 24, 2006 in the Siegenthaler Center Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., New Hartford, having shared the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on December 25, 1950 in Utica, a daughter of Harold Hyde and the late Shirley Fisher Hyde. A life long area resident she attended schools in Utica. She took pride in her accomplishment of returning to school while raising a family to earn an Associate Degree in Psychology from Mohawk Valley Community College.
She was a member of the Salvation Army, helping with cooking and serving meals as well as a life member at large of #1 VFW Auxiliary of the Department of NYS.
Mary lived her life in a benevolent manner. Her compassion revolved around her home, family and helping others in a self-sacrificing way. To her family including the foster children she raised through the years, she was their strength in troubled times and gloried with each and every triumph no matter how small. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and foster grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a loving, warm hearted person and will be greatly missed.
Surviving besides her father Harold Hyde are her devoted children, Irene Redeye Barrows-Goff and her husband Eugene of Waterville, Mark Barrows and his wife Patti of Barneveld, many foster children, ten grandchildren, Joey Goff, Tristalyn Goff, Destiny Goff, Brooklyn Goff, India, Chyna and Hunter Goff all of Waterville, Bernard Mast of Utica, Kayla Barrows of Ilion and Angel Barrows of Barneveld, many foster grandchildren, seven brothers and sisters, James Hyde and his wife Dorothy of Mass., Robert Hyde and his wife Virginia of Wisconsin, Shirley Rabice and her husband Nicholas of Utica, Walter Hyde and his wife Susan of North Carolina, Rose Czepiel and her husband Thomas of Marcy, Harold Hyde Jr., and his wife Aleta of Penn, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends, including a lifelong special friend Ronald Bogart of Frankfort. Besides her mother Shirley, she was preceded in death by a brother Richard Hyde.
Funeral Service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street Herkimer to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
At the familys request memorial donations may be made to the Siegenthaler Center Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
