Obituary

HERKIMER - Mary E. Lowery 83 formerly of 80 East North Street, Ilion passed away on Tuesday February 20, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on January 5, 1918 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Murray Albert and Electa Ann Newman Parks. A lifelong area resident, she was raised and educated in Herkimer. On October 23, 1936 she married John W. Lowery in Christ Episcopal Church Herkimer. A loving union of forty-one years until his passing on July 3, 1978. Mrs. Lowery had worked for William Scialdo at the General Herkimer Hotel and later worked in Quality Control at Mohawk Data Sciences, retiring in 1983. After her retirement she did private home health care work. She had a strong belief in God and lived a devoted Episcopalian life. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church Herkimer and Saint Mary's Guild of the church. Also she belonged to the American Legion Post # 38 Herkimer, Ladies Auxiliary. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 502 Ilion, Ladies Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose Club Ilion # 31. Mary will always be remembered as a loving, caring person and will be greatly missed by many friends and family. Surviving are a daughter; Ann and her husband Donald Waller of Ilion, one brother Herbert Parks of Herkimer, a daughter-in-law; Karen Lowery of Herkimer twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren , four great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband John, she was preceded in death by a son John W. Lowery Jr., two brothers Robert and Vernon Parks. Burial Office and Celebration of the Holy Eucharist according to the Book of Common Prayer will be offered on Friday morning at 11:00 AM in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Brian Kellington, Rector will officiate. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery later this spring. The family will present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc, 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Members of the American Legion Post # 38 Herkimer, Ladies Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday evening for services at 6:45 PM and members of VFW Post # 502 Ilion, Ladies Auxiliary are asked to meet at the funeral home for services at 7:00 PM that evening.
