RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Mary Mur Stansfield Marzeski age 92, passed away on Friday morning January 1, 2016 in Bassett Medical Center where she was supported and comforted by family and friends. Born on August 15, 1923 in Richfield Springs, daughter of the late Reginald S. and Mary L. Llewellyn Joslyn. She graduated from Richfield Springs Central School and was united in marriage with Edward Marzeski on December 17, 1945 in Saint Josephs RC Church. They raised their family of five in Richfield Springs and enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod each summer. Mur had a strong faith in God and was an active member of Saint Johns Episcopal Church. She was a member of the Garden Club, Bridge Club, a Girl Scout leader and an amazing mother. She was young at heart and loved knitting, crossword puzzles, cooking, celebrating holidays, flower arranging, baking for friends and family and had an unending love for children and animals. Her love for music was taught and passed on from generation to generation.
She was always ready to do for others while looking for nothing in return. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 70 years Edward, two sons and their wives, Dale and Kiyo Marzeski of Richfield Springs, Joel and Patricia Marzeski of Cazenovia, three daughters, Mary Lou Butler and her husband James of Gillette, WY, Marcia Goodale and her husband Thomas of Richfield Springs, Joan Marzeski of Roseboom, one sister, Barbara Steckler of Richfield Springs, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Reginald Joslyn and two sisters, Elizabeth McGrath and Ann Gerrard.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Saint Johns Episcopal Church, Richfield Springs. The Reverend John Dixon Bartle will officiate. Interment will take place in Saint Josephs Cemetery at a later time convenient to the family. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or Friends of Bassett. Envelopes will be available at the Church.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Bassett Hospital and Hospice for the excellent care and generosity to the family for the time spent there.
