HERKIMER - Mary H. "Perk" Nielsen, 72,of 104 N. Washington St., formerly of Utica St., DeRuyter, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, in Folts Homes.She was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Fabius, daughter of thelate Stephen and Mary Murray Field. Mary was raised and educated in Fabius. OnSept. 25, 1948, she married George Nielsen in Pompey, a blessed union of 43years until his passing on April 3, 1992. Besides caring for her family andhome, she was employed by the Centros Hotel and later by Jones Drugstore inDeRuyter, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Saint Lawrence Church, DeRuyter.Surviving are a son, Steven Nielsen and Tanna of Rifle,Colo.; three daughters, Kathryn and her husband Gary Machado of Bethesda, Md.,Christine and her husband Bowden of DeRuyter, Linda Nielsen of Lafayette; onebrother, John Field of Tully; a sister, Ruby Reynolds of Syracuse; sixgrandchildren, Sean Pressler of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Pressler of Bethesda,Md., Jamie Bowden of Cortland, Jill and Joshua Bowden, both of DeRuyter,Katreece Nielsen of Rifle, Colo.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides her husband, George, she was preceded in deathby a brother, Robert Field.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St.Lawrence Church, DeRuyter, Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow inHillcrest Cemetery.The family will receive relatives and friends at thechurch one hour prior to the funeral Mass (from 10-11 am).As an alternative to floral bouquets, memorialdonations to the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated.
