Obituary

HERKIMER – Mary Jane Schrader, age 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 23, 2021 at Faxton-St. Luke's Medical Center in New Hartford. She was born on January 3, 1935 in Dolgeville, the daughter of the late Bernard and Eva (Cimino) Weaver. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Dolgeville and Oppenheim schools. On August 11, 1951 she married Frank Schrader. They shared a blessed union for 68 years until his passing on December 22, 2019. God and family were the center of Mary Jane's life. She had a strong faith, and for many years attended the Dolgeville and Herkimer Pentecostal Churches. She regularly brought her children to church, and always desired to instill a strong faith in them as well. Mary Jane had a strong work ethic, and shared many stories from her youth helping her parents on the family farm. She started working at a very young age at Daniel Green in Dolgeville, and later found a career with General Electric in quality control and aerospace, which she enjoyed greatly. She worked in other fields through the years and made many friends along the way. Mary Jane also loved to travel with Frank, her children, and grandchildren, particularly to Florida, Alexandria Bay, Lake Placid, and Maine, which led to her fondness for lighthouses. Mary Jane is survived by her loving family, Evann and Thomas Graziano of Stafford, VA, William and Darleen Schrader of Utica, Janet and Todd Bennett of South Texas, Alan and Mary Schrader of Richmond Heights, OH, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Frank, she was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles whom she cherished and loved dearly. Calling hours at Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, will be on Monday 10:00 am until 12 noon with a Funeral Service to follow in the funeral home. Interment will be private. The family would like to express their sincere thank you and appreciation to Herkimer County Office of the Aging, Meals-on-Wheels, Senior Network Health, and US Care Systems for their assistance.
