HERKIMER-Mary E. Slack age 53 of Prescott Street passed away on Monday evening February 13, 2006 in Valley Health Services Inc. She was born on October 4, 1952 in Herkimer daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy DuPont Giachetti. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On February 20, 1970 she married Robert J. Slack in Mohawk. During past twenty-five years she had worked for the Ponderosa Restaurant, K-Mart, The Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart. Mary was always straight and to the point. But yet you could sense a warmth and friendship whenever you were with her. In the midst of her illness her husband Bob was always there for her, giving his care, hope, love and support. Surviving are her loving husband of thirty-five years, Robert, a brother William and his wife Wendy Giachetti of Mohawk, a dear friend Stanley Bud Malinowski of Herkimer, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents two brothers, Robert J. Giachetti and Vincent Giachetti, preceded her in death. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday February 25, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Columbia United Methodist Church. The Reverend Hans Drews, Pastor will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
