HERKIMER-Mary Margaret Vrooman age 92, passed away on Monday afternoon September 26, 2016 in Homelife at Folts, Herkimer. She was born on July 22, 1924 in the Town of Denmark, daughter of the late Wayne Wallace and Margaret Rowsam Vrooman. Mary was raised in Carthage where she graduated from Carthage High School. She continued her education at SUNY Potsdam where she received her teaching degree. Ms. Vrooman taught grade school at Little Falls and was a devoted teacher to all her students. She retired from teaching in 1985. She enjoyed attending ballet performances at SPAC, along with reading and playing cards with her many friends. To all who knew her she was a caring, helpful and loving lady, she will be truly missed. She is survived by a niece Lynn Hollander and her husband David of Bristol, TN. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew Warren Vrooman. A graveside funeral service was held for Ms. Vrooman on Friday morning in the Swinsburn Cemetery with the Reverend Thomas Sherwood officiating. Her family wishes to thank the staff at Homelife at Folts for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Mary for all time she was there.
