Obituary

UTICA/HERKIMER – Mary Lois Wilson, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. She was born on October 6, 1942, in Bell, CA, a twin daughter of the late Arthur J. and Lois A. (Folts) Beckingham. At an early age, Mary's family moved to Marcy, NY, on Deerfield Hill, where she was raised and educated, graduating from Whitesboro High School with the class of 1960. She furthered her education graduating from the Utica School of Business, receiving her degree in Automation Accounting. Mary worked for the NY Telephone Company, Utica Mutual Insurance Co., and General Electric. While raising her family, she was active in Scouting as a Den Mother with Boy Scouts of America andGirl Scout Troop Leader for the Girl Scouts of the USA for many years. On June 25, 1999, she married W. Barron Wilson in Cape Vincent, NY. They enjoyed their life together, sharing happy memories of living in both Sebring, Florida and Cape Vincent, NY; traveling, and cruising. The Alaskan cruise was her most memorable. They shared a devoted union of 12 years until his passing on November 2, 2011. Mary was a gifted crafter and quilter. She received many badges and pins from Quilting Guilds both locally and while living in Florida. Mostly, she will be remembered for her devotion to the many church projects and craft show she participated in and volunteered to be the chairperson for. Her goal was to make it better than the year before. If there was a job to be done, Mary was your "go to gal". Mary was a strong willed, determined person who knew how precious life was and was always there to lend a helping hand. Her life will live on with the many hearts she touched. She is survived by her four children; David Stoquert; Darlene Dugan-Hilton and her husband Marion "Moe" all of Myrtle Beach, SC; Michael Stoquert and his wife Sarah of Whitesboro; and Matthew Stoquert and his wife Maryellen of Deerfield. Her twin sister, Marian Clarke and her husband James of Floyd. Grandchildren, David Jr. Stoquert and his wife Vanessa, Justin Stoquert and Carson Stoquert; Aaron Stoquert, Ryan Dugan, Nathan Dugan and his wife Courtney, Emily Vanderhoof and her husband Benjamin; Austin Stoquert and Chase Stoquert; and Jordan Stoquert and Kamdyn Stoquert. Mary was affectionately known as GG to her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Asher Dugan, Colton and Easton Stoquert, and Isaac, Christian and Noah Vanderhoof. Also, her nieces and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Barron, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Sebastian Dugan. Funeral service in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 court Street, will be held on Saturday January 15th at 12:30 pm. The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:30 pm. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
