HERKIMER - Merrill D, LaCelle, "Frenchy", 80 of Eureka Avenue, diedon Wednesday, January 2, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital. A son of the late Henry A. and Gertrude M Olyer LaCelle he was born onJanuary 22, 1020. A lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in Mohawk.On January 24, 1941 he married Jeannette Mills in Mohawk. He had worked as amachinist for various local companies including UNIVAC, Bendix and the StandardFurniture Company. He also worked as a self-employed contractor retiring in1985. He was of the Baptist faith and an honorary member of the American LegionPost #38. Surviving besides his wife, Jeannette, are two sons and their wives, Rileyand Corliss LaCelle of Herkimer, Merrill Jr. and Alice LaCelle of Albuquerque,New Mexico; three daughters, Bonnie Zobrist of Ilion, Carol and her husbandDonald Elthorp of Mohawk, Melanie and Mario Gazzilli of Ilion; fifteengrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, one aunt Hedwige Gour of FL; two niecesand two nephews. Funeral Service will be on Monday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc. 115Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Jeremy L. Spencer, pastor of the FirstBaptist Church, Herkimer will officiate. Interment in Mt. View Memorial Gardenswill take place later this spring. The family will be present in the funeralhome to receive relatives and friends on Monday One hour prior to the funeralservice (from 10 - 11 am)
