MOHAWK-Michael R. Carona, age 25, of Shoemaker Hill Road, passed away on Sunday March 13,2005.
He was born on March 5, 1980, in Herkimer, son of Michael A. Carona and Kim Shlotzhauer Carona Deissler. Michael was raised in Mohawk until he was six years old and moved to Richboro, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Council Rock High School with the Class of 1999. He started out as a carpenter with the Carpenters Local Union in Philadelphia but his love of the outdoors and nature brought him back to the Mohawk Valley in 2002. Most recently he worked for Applebees Restaurant in Herkimer. Mikes leisure time was spent boating, fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, snowmobiling and bowling. To all who knew him they will remember his warm and wonderful smile that could light up a room, his wonderful sense of humor and wit. He will be greatly missed by many especially his family and friends.
Surviving are his mother Kim and step-father Jeffery P. Deissler of Richboro, PA, his father Michael A. Carona and step-mother Linda Clark of Mohawk, two sisters, Alyssa and Kaitlyn Deissler of Richboro, PA, extended family, Seth Morris, Melissa Morris of Mohawk, his grandmother Carole Shlotzhauer of Mohawk, aunts and uncles Tammi Shlotzhauer, Sandy and Rick Turner, Richard and Ann Shlotzhauer, Eric Shlotzhauer and Jolene Smith, Barbara Carona and Susan Martin, Mary Shlotzhauer, special friends Linda March and Toshya, Godparents, Neil Reardon and Linda Emrich, several nieces, nephews and cousins along with his good buddy Chopper the dog. His grandparents, Richard Shlotzhauer, Ralph and Marion Carona preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, funds may be contributed for a memorial bench to be put at the final resting place of Michael Richard Carona. Contributions may be sent to Mrs. Carole Shlotzhauer, 108 Robellard Road, Mohawk, NY 13407.
