RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Michael J. Hugick, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, November 5, 2012, in Folts Homes, Herkimer.
Born at the family farmhouse in Richfield Springs, on August 28, 1924, he was a son of the late Joseph and Victoria Sagac Hugick. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident, his grade school education was in a one room schoolhouse in Richfield Springs and graduated from Richfield Springs High School. In 1967 he was united in marriage to the former Rosemarie Breuer in St. Josephs Catholic Church, West Winfield.
He was a Dairy farmer all his life retiring in 1993. After retiring from farming he worked as a rural deliveryman driver for the Herkimer Telegram. Michael had a strong belief in God and was a communicant of St. Josephs the Worker Catholic Church in West Winfield. He will be remembered as a hard working, gentle man, who had a strong love for the outdoors and nature. He will be greatly missed by his friends and especially his family.
Surviving are his devoted wife of forty-five years Rosemarie, his son, David Hugick of Richfield Springs, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and John Hugick, five sisters, Mary Kiersztyn, Clara Lesniak, Helen Peplinski, Amelia Kozak and Lottie Kozak.
Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs at 2:30 on Friday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, West Winfield. The Reverend Matthew Wetsel, pastor will officiate.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
