Obituary

HERKIMER-Michael Devera Jr. age 87 of Eastern Avenue entered into eternal rest on Sunday November 21, 2004 in his home. He was born on May 13, 1917 in Herkimer son of the late Michael and Maria Wrobel Devera. A lifelong Herkimer resident he was a graduate of Herkimer High School. An honorably discharged US Army veteran he served in India during World War II. After the war Mike went to work for the Standard Furniture Company and then for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. For thirty years he was a cement layer for the International Labor Union of North America, Local # 35 in Utica until retiring in 1979. In his leisure time he enjoyed shooting skeet at the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club. To all that knew Mike they will remember his quiet manner and warm smile. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving him are two sisters, Helen and her husband Peter Merena of Herkimer, Lucia Devera with whom he resided, three nieces, one nephew four great nieces, two great nephews and a great great niece. Besides his parents a sister Mary Devera preceded him in death. Funeral service and interment are private. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
