Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Michael J. Perkins, 41, of Moyer Road, passed away Thursday after-noon, June 8, 2006, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. He was born Aug. 5, 1964, in New Hartford, son of the late John Perkins and the late Koreen Alice Gray Vriesema. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. He was employed as a truck driver for the US Express trucking company and a cook at the Tally-Ho Restaurant in Richfield Springs. He had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church, Richfield Springs. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and skiing. All who knew him will remember his warm smile. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. He is survived by his stepfather, John P. Vriesema; four brothers, David T. Perkins of Gulfport, Miss., Geoffrey S. Perkins of Richfield Springs, Karl W. Perkins and his wife, Cherry, of North Carolina, and Jack Perkins and his wife, Lil, of Erieville; two sisters, Victoria J. Gray Perkins and her husband, James Paulo, of Erieville, and Elizabeth A. Sawyer of Venice, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the Trinity Reformed Church, Richfield Springs. The Rev. Kenneth Prol, pastor, will officiate. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs
