RICHFIELD SPRINGS Mikena L. Pecora age 95, of Sylvan Street passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening May 31, 2005 in her home.
She was born on March 3, 1910 in Jersey City, New Jersey a daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Magna Pecora. Mikena as a young girl moved with her family to Richfield Springs where she was educated in Richfield Springs Central School.
For many years Mikena was a self-employed home keeper serving many area residents.
Mikena had a very strong belief in God and was a devout Catholic. A dedicated member of St. Josephs Church and the churchs Rosary Altar Society as well as a member of the choir since she was a teen-ager. One of her greatest joys was to be around her family, many could recall the great memories and joy at the Pecoras home with her neighbors and friends where they talked about the times. Something that Mikena cherished the most was singing and growing violets.
She will be remembered as a loving caring person and a friend to everybody, when in need the one you could count on.
Mikena leaves behind many of her special friends and neighbors who were always by her side and she was preceded in death by her brother Francis in 1996 and her sister Helen in 1995.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Josephs Church, Richfield Springs, on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Terrence Healey, officiating. Calling hours for Mikena will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Josephs Church or the Richfield Springs Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
