SPRINGFIELD - Milan Mizerak, 86, died peacefully in his home Monday May 25, 2015 with his loving wife Olga (Ollie) & daughter Kristina at his side. He was born and raised on the family farm 'Springwater Farm' in the town of Springfield graduating from East Springfield High School in 1945. He married Ollie Plaskon September 2, 1954 in Ascension Lutheran Church in Binghamton. In 1971 Milan & his wife purchased Cooperstown Shadow Brook Campground which they owned & operated until his retirement in 1996. His greatest satisfaction was developing Shadow Brook into a special place of enjoyment for their devoted campers. Prior to that he was the self employed owner of Mizerak Septic Service, light trucking & construction. After retirement Milan loved camping & traveling with his wife in their motorhome visiting numerous National Parks & bird sanctuaries. Milan cherished a simple life. His joys included family gatherings, card games with friends, daily coffee hour with his buddies, bragging about his loving granddaughters & drives through the countryside in his Echo. His dry sense of humor, contagious laugh and gift for sharing great stories was the source of much entertainment. Milan is survived by Ollie, his best friend & devoted wife of 60 years. Daughter Kristina & her husband Nelson Dahl, granddaughters Loni Burnette & Riley Burnette, Phoenix AZ. Sister Mildred Mizerak, Johnson City; Sister in Law Sarah Mizerak, Auburn; Nephews Allen Charsky, Johnson City & Steven Mizerak, Whitesboro; Niece Joanna Tomlinson, Skaneatles along with their families. He was pre-deceased by sister Christine Cibulka & brothers John Mizerak & Stephen Mizerak. Calling hours will be on Saturday June 13th from 11:00am to 1:00pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A Graveside service will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery.
