Mildred Anderson died peacefully at the age of 96, on Thursday, May 18th at the Folts Home, where she had resided for the past 10 years.
She was born on January 24, 1910, in Corona-Queens, NY, daughter of the late Herman and Anna Eisinger-Kurz Anderson. She had 2 sisters and four brothers, including her late brother Herbert with whom she lived in Herkimer prior to entering Folts home.
During the 85 plus years she lived in Queens, Mildred helped several relatives with their family businesses before taking care of her widowed mother and helping to raise her nieces and nephews.
She was an especially kind and thoughtful person with a great sense of humor and strong spiritual values, making her very popular with the residents and staff at Folts Home. While there, she enjoyed a broad variety of activities including concerts, trips to watch the Harlem Globetrotters, religious activities, competitive games, and her beloved bingo. It is likely that no other resident was as successful a bingo player as Mildred, in spite of the fact that she helped handicapped residents play their cards in addition to playing her own.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews in New York and Florida.
A memorial service will be held in the Folts Home chapel on Tuesday, June 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Burial of her ashes will be in the family cemetery in Carona-Queens.
Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer, NY
