Mildred T. Gilbert FT. McCOY,FL-Mildred T. Gilbert 87, formerly of Burlington Flats, died on Friday, June 9,2000 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She wasborn on May 31, 1913 in New London, daughter of the late John D. and BlancheWilcox Murfit. Mildred was educated in the Knoxboro Public School. On February 27, 1932 she married Donald F. Gilbert in Oneida Castle, a blessed union of sixty-five years until his passing on May 11, 1997. She and her husband owned and operated their own dairy farm in Burlington Flats until 1974 when they retired and moved to Ft. McCoy, FL. Mrs. Gilbert's life was centered on being a mother, caring for her family and her home. Surviving are five sons and theirwives; Leonard and Lois Gilbert of Mohawk, Franklin and Gwenn Gilbert of Ft.McCoy, FL, Donald and Colette Gilbert of Middleville, William and Connie Gilbertof Frankfort, Thomas and Diane Gilbert of West Exeter, five daughters; Virginiaand her husband Richard Hardman of Grand Blanc, Joyce Shafer of Brick, NJ,Margaret and her husband Ronald Buell of Coconut Creek, Bonnie and her husbandHoward Bowen , Gayle Irene Gilbert all of Burlington Flats, one sister DorothyKohl of Rome, a Brother-in-law; Edward Gilbert of Pearl City, Hawaii, thirty-onegrandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren, one great great grandson, manynieces and nephews. Besides her husband Donald, she was preceded in death by ason Michael Gilbert, two brothers; Merritt and Earl Murfit, three sisters; BessHull, Florence Moot, Edna Hilts, a grandson; Brian Gilbert, two greatgranddaughters; Katie Hardman, Rebecca Gilbert and a son-in-law; Durward K.Shafer who died in 1996. Funeralservice will be on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Exeter Center United MethodistChurch. The Reverend William Highfield pastor will officiate. Interment willfollow in Exeter Center Cemetery. The family will be present to receiverelatives and friends in J. SEATON McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street,Richfield Springs on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Memorialdonations may be made to the Exeter Center United Methodist Church. Envelopeswill be available at the funeral home
