HERKIMER Mildred W. Hubiak, age 92 formerly of Travis Road, Jordanville, passed away on Monday morning, January 28, 2019, at Folksbrook, Herkimer. She was born on August 27, 1926, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Miller) Winchell. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and S.U.N.Y. Oneonta.For thirty-five years she worked as an area educator and retired from Owen D. Young Central School in 1981. On July 9, 1949, she married John Hubiak. They shared a devoted union of fifty-seven years until his passing on June 30, 2006. She was a faithful communicant of St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in East Herkimer. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Evelyn Winchell, a niece, Tracy Chaffee, a nephew, Michael Winchell, along with a niece, Carol Waskulski and her husband Ted, three nephews, Walter Hubiak and his wife Marjorie, Ronald Hubiak and his wife Diane, Joseph Hubiak and his wife Rose, and a sister-in-law Rose Hubiak. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer, with the Fr. Frana of St. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, East Herkimer officiating. Interment in St. Peter and Paul Orthodox cemetery will take place later this spring at a time to be announced. There will be time to meet with the family on Thursday from 10:00 11:00 am (one hour prior to the service).
