HERKIMER-Mildred G. Luce, age 93, formerly of Ward Street, East Herkimer entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, November 13, 2003 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer.
She was born on May 27, 1910, in East Herkimer, daughter of the late Charles and Lela Snyder Lowell. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was educated in Herkimer Schools. On March 8, 1947, she married Selden Harry Luce in Binghamton. A loving union of thirty-four years he passed away in September of 1981. For thirty years she worked as a sewing machine operator for the Remington Rand Company, Ilion retiring in 1948.
Mildred had a strong belief in God and lived a devoted Christian life. A member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls she was recently cited for her fifty years of membership with the church. She was also a member of the East Herkimer Senior Citizens. To all that knew her they will remember her smile and warm friendly manner.
Surviving are one son, Frederick A. and his wife Mary E. Brown of Little Falls, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Selden she was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert Lowell, Ralph Jack Lowell, Clarence Lowell, and Raymond Lowell, five sisters, Minnie VanderWiel, Myrtle Ropeter, Marguerite Guyer, Annie Risedorph and Bessie Tarbox.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Mrs. Luce will be then laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
