MOHAWK - Mildred L. Swider, 79, of the Mohawk Homestead, 68 E. Main St., entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in the Rome Memorial Hospital, Rome.
She was born Nov. 15, 1923, in Sauquoit, daughter of the late Lynn and Emma Stevens. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Sauquoit High School. On April 12, 1946, she married Wencelaus Swider in Utica. They shared a loving and devoted union of 50 years until his passing in 1996. For 22 years Mrs. Swider worked for the White Tower Restaurant in Utica, retiring in 1982. She has resided at the Mohawk Homestead since 1998. She will be greatly missed by many, especially her family.Surviving are one son, David W. Swider of Syracuse; two daughters and their husbands, Peggy A. and Robert Goldstein of Mohawk and Christine and Kenneth Manzanares of Yampa, Colo.; three grandchildren, Joel and Phillip Manzanares of Colorado and Aaron Fischer of Mohawk; two great-grandchildren, Devin and Alexandra Fischer; several nieces and nephews.Funeral service and interment are private and at the convenience of the family.
