Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Mildred C. Woodrow age 97 of Union Street passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon October 20, 2013 in Valley Health Services, Inc., Herkimer. She was born on April 5, 1916 in New Lisbon, daughter of the late Willis and Harriett Bunn Jackson. Mildred was raised and educated in Hartwick and went on to graduate from Milford High School. On April 17, 1937 she was united in marriage with Robert William Woodrow.They first made their home in Albany where for a short time she worked for the Montgomery Ward Store.They then came back to this area living in Garrattsville until 1988 when they moved to Richfield Springs.Mr. Woodrow preceded her in death on December 21, 2002. Mrs. Woodrow had a strong faith in God and led a devoted Presbyterian life. First as a member of the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school and the Church of Christ Uniting Church in Richfield Springs.While living in Garrattsville Mildred was a member of the Garrattsville Emergency Squad. To all who knew her she will be remembered as a loving, caring and helpful lady who was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her son, Robert Woodrow of Richfield Springs, four grandchildren, Robert Joseph Woodrow and his wife Carrie Tome of Richfield Springs, Jane Smith and her husband Chance of North Carolina, Emily Thorpe and her husband Nick of Oregon, Peter Woodrow of Richfield Springs, six great grandchildren, a sister Laura Neighbor of Pulaski, many nieces, nephews and cousins.Besides her parents and husband Robert she was predeceased by two sisters, Isabelle Cole and Patricia Seiferth. Calling hours for Mrs. Woodrow will be on Friday morning from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Doctor Mark Ioset, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs officiating. Interment will follow in Butternut Valley Cemetery, Garrattsville. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Garrattsville Presbyterian Church.Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
