RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Miriam Virginia Hallock, age 82,of Bronner Street, went to meet her Lord on Tuesday evening, February 12, 2008, in her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on July 22, 1925, in North Kortright, daughter of the late Bernard and Mildred LeRoy St. George.She was a graduate of GrandGorge High School and had attended Hartwick Collegefor Nursing.
On October 22, 1944, she was united in marriage with Monroe Bud Hallock in Stamford.They shared a blessed union for sixty-three years.
Mrs. Hallock worked as Supervisor for the Canajoharie Dress Company in Canajoharie and also made and altered wedding and prom attire for Quintons Bridal Shoppe in Herkimer. She enjoyed sewing for her neighbors and friends and was instrumental in designing and sewing Richfield Springs Kachinas first uniforms. Miriam also sewed the school flags, banners and band uniforms as well.In her leisure time she was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and making Halloween costumes.
She had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Josephs Church, Richfield Springs where she had taught Sunday school for several years.
Surviving are her beloved husband Monroe, two sons and their wives, Richard and Susan Hallock of Rhode Island and Florida, Thomas and Roberta Hallock of Richfield Springs, three granddaughters, Melissa Allison, Jennifer Vibbard and her husband David, Jacquelyn Hallock, one grandson, Roman Hallock, a grandson-in-law Paul Allison, two step-grandsons, James and John Foster, five great grandchildren, which made her proud and who she cherished and loved dearly, Cathryn, Megan, Matthew Allison, Ellen and Lauren Vibbard, two sisters, Frances Bennett and Mary Taddonio both of Long Island, a brother, Joseph and his wife Sarah St. George of Florida.Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmond and Bernard St. George.
Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.Nancy Brown, Parish Life Director of St. Josephs Church, Richfield Springs will officiate.Interment will take place later this spring in Keyser Hill Cemetery, Middleburgh.There are no calling hours.
