RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Nester J. Shypski, age 85, of Cullen Road, entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, October 3, 2005, in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
He was born on November 11, 1919, in Wood, PA son of the late John and Julia Petuch Shypski. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School with the class of 1938.Mr. Shypski was an honorably discharged US Army veteran of World War II. He proudly served in the European, Mediterranean and North Africa Theatres.
On December 4, 1948, he married the former Clara Horl in Columbia Center. Since that time they have resided on the family dairy farm in Cullen.
Nester had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs. He was a member of the Hugick, Purcell and Shepard American Legion Post #616 Richfield Springs, the Richfield Springs Lodge # 482 Free and Accepted Masons. He had a real love for the outdoors and was a life member of the Richfield Springs Sportsmans Club.
To all that knew him they will always remember an honest, straight forward man with a warm smile, a friend you could always rely on.He will be missed by many especially his family.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years Clara, three sons and their wives, Thomas and Barbara Shypski, Richard and Christine Shypski, all of Richfield Springs, John and Christine (Miller) Shypski of Brookfield, CT, one sister, Helen Meier of Phoenix, AZ, four grandchildren, Marilyn and Kayla Shypski, Michael and Jordan Anna Shypski, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother William Shypski and two sisters, Mary Bayzon and Mabel Kierzinski.
