JORDANVILLE-Norman J. Haskell age 65 of Kingdom Road entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon July 29, 2004 in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born on August 28, 1938 in Endicott, son of the late Charles E. and Eleanor Lord Haskell. Norman was raised in Owego and was a graduate of Owego Free Academy, class of 1956. An honorably discharged US Navy veteran he had served in New Finland. On June 2, 1962 he married the former M. Louise Wiles in North Ghent, PA. They had resided in Owego until 1967 when they moved to Jordanville. Mr. Haskell was an Electrical Designer. For 16 years he worked for Laser Precision that later became GN Nettest in Utica retiring in 2002.
Norman had a deep love for his community and was active both civically and politically. He was a strong supporter of the Jordanville Public Library and board member of the VanHornesville-Jordanville Food Bank. He was currently serving as a councilman for the town of Warren and at one time was the Town Justice for Warren. He had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Federated Church in Jordanville.
To all that knew him they will remember his warm smile and friendly manner. Surviving are his wife of forty-two years M. Louise, two sons, Michael Haskell and his companion Laura Stott of Atlanta, GA, Timothy Haskell and his fiance Lena Fountain of Mayfield, two daughters, Lauri Haskell and Raymond Ervin of Rome, Kristina Haskell and her fiance Jamie Davidson of Winston Salem, SC, three brothers and their wives, Robert C. and Sarah Haskell, Richard J. and Gail Haskell, Charles E. Jr. and Wendy Haskell all of Owego, one sister, Suzi and her husband Steve Anderson of Roanoke, VA, five grandchildren, Michael of Idlewilde, CA, Daniel, Kristina, Dakota and Kayla all of Rome, several nieces, nephews and cousins, his father-in-law, Howard Wiles of Athens, PA, five brother-in-laws, Richard Wiles of NC, Gary Wiles, Kenneth Wiles, Ronald Wiles and Clifford Wiles all of PA, four sister-in-laws, Doris Greer of DE, Arlene Farmer of AL, Patricia Middaugh of Owego and Deborah Barnhart of PA. Besides his parents two sisters, Joyce Dukerich and Judy Schobel, preceded him in death.
Funeral service on Monday at 10:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 west James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Scott Hocking, Pastor of the Federated Church Jordanville officiating. Mr. Haskell will be laid to rest in the Tioga Cemetery, Owego NY on Monday at 3:00 pm. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Jordanville Public Library or the Federated Church Jordanville. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
