Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS Norman Faye Maxson, age 95, of Richfield Springs passed away peacefully onTuesday November 20, 2018 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. Norman was born on July 15, 1923 in Richfield Springs a son of the late Julian F. and Nina B. OConnor Maxson. He was a lifelong area resident and was raised and educated In Richfield Springs. In 1942 he was inducted in to the United States Army Air Force, and served our country as a Radio Operator during World War II. While he was stationed at Truax Field Wisconsin he received a radio operators diploma in the American Airways Communications System, along with a special certificate for those who qualified in Speed Code. He was an honors graduate. After the war he returned home and in 1946 he married the former Bette J. Norton in the Richfield Springs Presbyterian Church. For 38 years he was a meat cutter with the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company (A&P) in Richfield Springs. In his spare time he enjoyed playing video games, bowling and golf. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving him, his wife of seventy two years Bette, two sons Thomas Maxson and his wife Sandra of Richfield Springs, Mark Maxson and his wife Shawn of Richfield Springs, four daughters Marilyn Patrick and her husband Raymond of Richfield Springs, Diane Frohne and her husband Ronald of Richfield Springs, Susan Dodd and her husband Calvin Vidalia, Louisiana, Sherry Woudenberg and her husband Ronald of Penn Yan, a sister Marian Maxson of Richfield Springs, fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, many nieces nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Bette Eysamanand Grace LaFrance. In according to his wishes there will be no calling hours, a service will take place at a later time convenient to the family. Arrangements are with the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A big piece of our hearts now lives in heaven. Remember to take time to spend with family, friends and loved ones, creating memories you will always have to cherish.
