Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Olga Swota age 89 of Richfield Springs passed away on Tuesday morning January 7, 2003 in her home. She was born on June 18, 1913 in Watervliet, daughter of the late Simon and Valeria Michasiow. She attended Watervliet High School and graduated from Albany Comptometer School. On January 28, 1933, she married Stephen Swota in St. Peters and Pauls Church, Watervliet. In 1972 she retired from Bassett Hospital and for the next 20 years, she was a volunteer at the hospital. Survivors include her husband of seventy years Stephen, two daughters and their husbands Shirley and Ralph (Buck) Wilkerson of Cody, WY, Joyce (Cookie) and Robert DeMasi of Rochester, three grandchildren Stephen and his wife Teri Wilkerson of Cody, WY, Valerie Sue and her husband Louis Keating of Salt Lake City, UT, Woody Wilkerson of Scottsdale, AZ., one great granddaughter Sarah Marie Keating, one great grandson Roger Nolan Keating; two brothers David McKay of Whispering Pines, NC, Myron and Sheila Michasiow of Carmel, CA, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, four brothers, Francis, Joseph, Emil, and Arthur Michasiow preceded her in death. Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St Josephs Church Richfield Springs at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Terrance Healy will officiate. Mrs. Swota will be laid to rest in St. Josephs Cemetery later in the spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM..
