HERKIMER-Olive Mary Glines age 83 of 104 North Washington Street formerly of North Main Street entered into eternal rest of Sunday morning January 2, 2005 after a long illness.
She was born on August 21, 1921 in Kearsley, England daughter of the late Joseph T. and Clara Whitelegg Unsworth. Olive was raised in England where she graduated from Farnsworth High School and The Loreburn Business School at Bolton Lancashire, England. A veteran of World War II she had served with the British Army and was a Morse Code Interceptor for the British Secret Service. It was during this time that she met Sidney Jasper Glines who was serving with the US Army Air Corps. They were married on May 28, 1945 in Kearsley, Great Britain. Upon returning to the United States they took up residence in Middleville and in 1951 moved to Herkimer. Mr. Glines preceded her in death on February 16, 2003.
Mrs. Glines had a strong belief in God and had led a devoted Episcopal life. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. Olive will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person with a warm smile and gracious manner. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Surviving her children and their spouses, Barbara and Craig Stiefrater of Utica, Diane and Dennis Sancho of Osprey, FL, David Cool of Baldwinsville, one sister Rene Thornley of Australia, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband Sidney she was predeceased by a child Carl Cool and a great grand daughter, Kaylin Marie Pavalock.
Funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be on Tuesday at 1:00 pm on Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Paul Bailey, Rector will officiate. Mrs. Glines will be laid to rest with her husband in Oak Hill Cemetery later this spring. There are no Calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
