RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Patrick Harry VanDyke age 54 of Main Street passed away unexpectedly on Friday morning October 2, 2009 in his home. He was born on March 23, 1955 in New Berlin, son of Charlotte Anna Boutwell VanDyke and the late Archie VanDyke.Patrick was raised in Leonardsville and was a graduate of Leonardsville High School.He was married to the former Patricia Houghtaling who preceded him in death in 1994. Mr. VanDyke first worked in the building construction field in Coloradountil his marriage to his wife Patricia.They the moved to the State of Georgia, where they owned and operated an Adult Home.In 1994 he returned to this area first in Cooperstown and later to Richfield Springs.He worked as manager of Stewarts Shops in both Cooperstown and Richfield Springs. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching sporting events on television especially baseball and football. Patrick will always be remembered as a down to earth, caring person who was always willing to help those in need.He was a friend to many he will never be forgotten. Surviving him are his mother Charlotte Van Dyke of Canajoharie, four brothers, John VanDyke and his wife Mary of Leonardsville, Merle VanDyke and his wife Marge of Burlington Flats, Donald VanDyke of NC, Anthony VanDyke of AZ, five sisters, Clara Cromie of Turtleville, TN, Ivy Kellama of Wolcott, Gladys Perry of Canajoharie, Janet Avery of GA and Ruby Brown of Owego, many nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside funeral service will take place on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in Schuyler Lake Cemeterywith the Reverend Alan Miller officiating.There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with J.
