Obituary

HERKIMER-Paul Samuel Janeka 78 passed away peacefully on Friday morning January 1, 2021 in the Lutheran Home Clinton where he has resided for almost ten years. Paul was born on March 11, 1942 in Herkimer, son of the late Paul and Evelyn Crim Janeka. A lifelong Herkimer resident, Paul was a 1960 graduate of Herkimer High School. He furthered his education at Mohawk Valley Community College. For many years he worked as a Mental Health Aide at the Taconic DDSO in Wassaic, New York. He retired in 2002. Mr. Janeka had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. To all who knew Paul, found him to be a quiet man who kept to himself. In his leisure time he was an avid reader. Any conversation with him was straight and to the point but you always felt his warmth and friendship whenever you were him. He will be sadly missed. Surviving are his sister JoAnn Blaise and her husband Gary of Ilion, a niece Kristin Blaise, one nephew Chad and his wife Tara Blaise, two great nieces Ella and Audrey Blaise and several loving and caring cousins. The family would like to thank all the staff of the Lutheran Home for the years of wonderful care he received. A graveside funeral service will take place in Mohawk Cemetery Friday May 14 at 12:00pm. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer. Graveside Service
