HERKIMER - Paul Kolarik, 89, of Eureka Avenue, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, June 18, 2001, in his home.
He was born March 20, 1912, in Yonkers, son of the late John and Katerina Duga Kolarik. A lifelong Herkimer resident, he was a graduate of Herkimer High School. He played with the Herkimer Rangers, a semi-professional baseball team, in the 1930s. On April 16, 1932, he married Anna DeKanek in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer, a devoted union of 56 years until her passing on Sept. 25, 1988. An honorably discharged US Navy veteran, he served our country during World War II. Mr. Kolarik worked as an assembler and tester for the Remington Arms Company, retiring in 1975. He was s member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer, and a former member of Herkimer Lodge 1439 B.P.O.E. Surviving him are one son, Paul J. and his wife Elizabeth Kolarik of Little Lake Harbor, N.J.; a sister, Anne Klimacek of Clinton; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Dale Dickerson, pastor of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the funeral service (1 to 2 p.m.) Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
