HERKIMER-Pauline Jenison, age 90, of 104 North Washington Street, formerly of 407 North Bellinger Street, passed away on Sunday afternoon September 9, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on April 14, 1911 in Clinton, daughter of the late Judd and Nellie Spoor Jones. Her family moved to Herkimer in 1914 where she has resided since. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On August 28, 1930 she married George E. Jenison in the Herkimer United Methodist Church, a loving and devoted union of fifty years until his passing on September 25, 1980. For many years Pauline worked for the Montgomery Ward Store Herkimer in the Catalog Department and as a Sales Clerk, retiring in 1970.
To all that knew her, they will remember her smile. She had a strong love for the outdoors and was a former member of the Coachman's Club where she and her husband went on many camping trips. Pauline will always be remembered as a loving and caring person. She was a member of the Valley Evening Star Chapter # 82 Order of the Eastern Star, the Amaranth as well as doing volunteer work for the Herkimer Memorial Hospital. She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer and the United Methodist Women.
She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family. Surviving are her son Edward and his wife Ruth Jenison of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Phyllis and her husband Thomas Shearer of Northville; seven grandchildren, George Jenison, Martha Efird and Eric Jenison all of Charlotte, NC, Thomas Shearer of Cheyenne, WY, Richard Shearer of Galway, Daniel Shearer of Annapolis, MD and Pamela Junquera of Scotia, eleven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and one cousin Dorothy Doer of Florida formerly of East Herkimer.
Besides her parents and husband a brother Ross Jones preceded her in death.
Funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer. The Reverend William Otis pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Herkimer Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
