JORDANVILLE - Pauline Joan Puskarenko age 80 of Puskarenko Road passed away peacefully on Saturday morning July 3, 2010 in the comfort of her home with her loving family at her side.
She was born on July 28, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, daughter of the late Paul and Mabel Couse. Pauline graduated from VanHornesville High School with the class of 1947. On April 17, 1948 she was united in marriage with Thomas Puskarenko in Saint Pauls Lutheran Church, Fort Plain. They have made their home in Jordanville since that time.
Mrs. Puskarenko worked for the Beechnut Company in Canajoharie. She started out as a machine operator and in later years was as a seamstress. She retired in 1989 after thirty-two years of loyal service.
Pauline had a strong sense of community. She and her husband were instrumental in the starting of the seniors in Springfield Center Group. Mrs. Puskarenko was also an active member of TOPS and was awarded the honor, Queen of the TOPS Club for all of New York State. To all who knew her, will remember a hopeful, caring and loving lady who was happiest when surrounded by her many friends and family especially her five cherished grandchildren. She will be truly missed.
Surviving besides her devoted husband of sixty-two years, Thomas are a daughter, Julie Gardner and her husband Clifford of Colorado Springs, CO, two sons, Paul Puskarenko and Peter Puskarenko both of Jordanville, one sister, Charlotte Lorentson of Wisconsin, five grandchildren, Sarah Puskarenko of Frankfort, Benjamin Gardner of Ashville, NC, Seth Puskarenko of Astoria, OR, Adam Gardner and his wife Jessica of Greeley, CO, Rebecca Gardner of Colorado Springs, CO along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Betty Streeter.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Pastor Kenneth Dingman will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville. The family will be present at the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the VanHornesville Volunteer Fire Department or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
