Obituary

Newport-Pearl A. Waldruff, 80, of Gage Road, died on Monday morning, June 12, 2000, in St.Luke's Memorial Hospital New Hartford. She was born on July 22, 1919, in St. Johnsville, daughter of the late Eugeneand Mabel Moyer Snyder. A lifelong area resident she was educated inColumbia Center Schools and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School"Class of 1938". On August 24, 1940, she married Ernest L. Waldruff inthe Presbyterian Church, Richfield Springs. They shared a loving union of42 years until his passing on July 24, 1983. A devoted and caring mothershe had the ability to balance her time between working and her family.She had worked for the Tannery in West Windfield and 10 years as a sales clerkfor the Pick and Pay Store in Richfield Springs retiring in 1965. In herleisure time she enjoyed doing crafts. She was a member of the Church ofChrist Uniting, Richfield Springs. Surviving her are one son, Barry and his wife Donna Waldruff of Mesa, AZ;two daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Daniel MacIntosh of Mount Airy, NC,Carol and Terry Stone of Mohawk; four sisters, Ruth Owen, Dorothy Evans, Ida andher husband Donald Berrie, Edith and her husband Leon Suhocki all of RichfieldSprings.; eight grandchildren, Robert Graepel, Heather Teachout, Shannon Stone,Terra Stone, Pamela Gay, Leanne Waldruff, James Sudderly and Deborah Ashe; ninegreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and her special daughter-in-lawDoris Waldruff of Newport. Besides her husband Ernest; three brothersAlfred, Alvin, Emery Snyder and two sisters, Hazel Snyder and Marjorie Griffithpreceded her in death. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in J.Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.The Reverend William Harkins, pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting willofficiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park, Clinton.Thefamily will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends onWednesday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Memorialdonation may be made to the Kuyahoora Volunteer Ambulance Corp. or RichfieldSprings Volunteer Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeralhome.
