HERKIMER - Peter T. Jeffries, 84, of North Main Street, beloved husband of Antonia Dededimos Jeffries, entered into eternal rest on Friday afternoon, Oct. 3, 2003, in Faxton Hospital, Utica. He was born on August 7, 1919, in Oneonta, a son of the late Theodore and Despo Andricos Jeffries. He was raised and educated in Herkimer, where he graduated high school.
An honorably discharged US Army veteran, he served his country during WWII and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. On April 23, 1963, he married Antonia Dededimos in Schenectady. For over 30 years, he worked for Salada Tea Company in Little Falls, retiring in 1984. Peter was a member of Saint Theodoroi Greek Orthodox Church of Gloversville, and the VFW Post #4915. He will be remembered as a caring person and will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 40 years, Antonia; one sister, Theodore Sfikas and her husband, George of Rochester; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Jeffries.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Pat Legato of Saint Sophia Creek Orthodox Church, Albany, will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Monday, from 12 noon - 1 p.m. (one hour prior to the service). Expressions of sympathy may be made to Saint Theodoroi Greek Orthodox Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home
