RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Peter Marochko age 89 formerly of Chyle Road passed away peacefully on Friday morning June 22, 2007 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. He was born on March 23, 1918 in Brooklyn, son of the late John and Anna Futz Marochko. Peter was raised in Brooklyn where he attended Greenpoint Public Schools. In 1928 at the age of ten he along with his family moved to Richfield Springs. His mother and father purchased the Druse Farm on Chyle Road in 1929. Peter continued his education graduating from Owen D. Young High School with the class of 1937. Mr. Marochko owned and operated the family dairy farm until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church in East Herkimer. As a member of the Co-Operative Extension of Cornell University he served on the Herkimer County Soil Conservation Committee. Peter will always be remembered as quiet man with a warm smile and down to earth manor. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by a cousin, Oksana Dlaboha of Cliffside Park, NJ. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Olga who died in 1951. Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am in Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, East Herkimer with the Very Reverend James Jadick officiating. Interment will follow on Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
