RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Peter Woytowich, age 70, of Hoffman Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2008 in his home after a long illness.He had the comfort and support of his loving family at his side.
He was born on October 29, 1937, in the town of Manheim, son of Anna Popka Woytowich and the late Peter Woytowich. A lifelong resident of Richfield Springs he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School with the class of 1955.
On June 27, 1964 he was united in marriage with the former Patricia Ann Bancroft in the Richfield Springs United Methodist Church.Together they had owned and operated their family dairy farm on Hoffman Roadin South Columbia.
In his leisure time he enjoyed sports, especially baseball.As a young man he played semi-professional baseball for the Richfield Springs Owls and in later years he played with the Schuyler House Soft Ball League. An avid bowler, Peter was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Richfield Springs Bowling League.Most recently his greatest pleasure was the pride he had in watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball.Mr. Woytowich will always be remembered as a hard working, warmhearted and down to earth man.A friend to many, he will never be forgotten.
Surviving besides his devoted wife of forty-four years Patricia are a son Peter Woytowich of Syracuse, one daughter Lisa Valentine and her companion David Longaker of Richfield Springs, his mother Anna Woytowich, two brothers, Steven Woytowich and his wife Nancy McGuire of Rome, John Woytowich and his wife Thepin of Bangkok, Thailand, six grandchildren, Peter, Kaelyn and Connor Woytowich of Syracuse, Derek Goodwin of Cortland, Matthew and Daniel Valentine of Richfield Springs, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and cousins.
Besides his father Peter, he is preceded in death by his daughter Julie Ann Woytowich.
At the request of Mr. Woytowich, funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
