HERKIMER - RalphJ. Schifferdecker 74 of Main Road passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening,March 7, 2000 in Little Falls Hospital. Hewas born on November 22, 1925 in Little Falls, son of the late Karl G. and ElsieKnabe Schifferdeceker. A life longarea resident, he was a graduate of Little Falls High School. An honorably discharged US Navy veteran, he served during World War II inthe European Theatre as a Gunners mate. Fortwenty-five years he was employed for Standard Furniture Company and for twelveyears for Little Falls Color Print, retiring in 1988.
He was a life member and past commander of Steve Stefula VFW Post # 4612Little Falls. His leisure time wasspent in his garden where he raised tomatoes and beans, he also loved to pickstrawberries and blue berries which he gave to his neighbors.
Surviving him are his brother Harry Schifferdecker with whom he resided,a sister Ruth Gokey of Herkimer, two nieces Cheryl Gokey of Herkimer, Barbaraand her husband Steven Perkins of Pittsfield, MA and several cousins.
Funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 AM in FENNER FUNERAL HOMEInc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer with the Reverend David Oertel officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives andfriends Thursday 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorialdonations may be made to the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department or thecharity of your choice.
Envelopes are available at the funeral. Member of theSteve Stefula VFW Post are asked to meet at the funeral home on Thursday eveningfor services.
