Obituary

SCHUYLER LAKE-Raymond Arlo Foster age 83 of County Highway # 22 passed away peacefully on Monday morning April 27, 2015 in Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Cooperstown. He had the comfort of his loving family at his side. Ray was born on February 25, 1932 in Bridgewater, son of the late Arlo and Dorothy Saxe Foster. A lifelong area resident he was educated in Owen D. Young and Richfield Springs Central Schools. On April 28, 1956 he was united in marriage with the former Shirley Simonds in the United Methodist Church, Richfield Springs. They made their home in Richfield Springs until 1965 when they moved to Schuyler Lake and have remained there since. Mr. Foster worked for Van's TV in Richfield Springs as both salesman and repairman for the store. He retired in 1993 after thirty-six years of dedicated service. In his leisure time he enjoyed snowmobiling and deer hunting To all who knew Ray, he was a family man who loved his family and his home. He cherished the time that he spent with his wife and children and they cherished their time with him in return. He will be truly missed. Surviving are his beloved wife of fifty-nine years Shirley, a son Randall Foster of Schuyler Lake and a daughter, Sandra Foster of Sprout Brook, two nieces, Brenda Kline and Lynn Foster, nephews, Kevin Brown, Curtis Foster, Leo and Donald Lincourt as well as his good friend Robert Radziecwicz. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Francis Foster. Calling hours for Mr. Foster will be Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 2:00 pm with the Reverend William Delia officiating. Interment will be in Schuyler Lake Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Susquehanna ASPCA. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the dedicated workers, the nurses, aides and housekeeping at the Manor for making Ray's time there enjoyable.
