HERKIMER – Raymond Charles Goodrich, age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 26, 2021 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica after an extended illness. He was born on January 29, 1950, in Herkimer, a son of the late Ralph and Margaret (Abeline) Goodrich. A lifelong Herkimer resident, Ray graduated from St. Francis deSales School and attended Herkimer High School. For many years he was employed with St. Francis DeSales School, church and cemetery. He then worked for Allen's Landscape and Lawn Service before working Oak Hill Cemetery, retiring in 2015 due to declining health. Besides being a true blue Yankee fan, Ray was a hardworking compassionate man who enjoyed life and lived it his way. Once you met him you felt an instant kinship who was a friend forever. He will be truly missed. Surviving are his loyal companion of 39 years Daisy Ward, his brother Larry Goodrich of Ilion, a sister Barbara DeMars and her husband Terry of Herkimer, several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 10:30 AM in the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. The Reverend Paul Catena, pastor will officiate.
