Raymond B Martin's Obituary

COOPERSTOWN - Raymond B. Martin, age 69, formerly of West James Street, Richfield Springs passed away on Friday afternoon August 18, 2006 in The Otsego Manor. Raymond was born on August 31, 1936 in Boston, MA a son of the late Elmer and Julia Barry Martin. He was a graduate of Brookfield High School and had attended IBM School. Raymond had worked for General Electric, Agway and finished his career at the Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome as a computer specialist. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Waterville, an avid golfer he held memberships in many different golf leagues. Ray was a true lover of sports especially football which motivated him to start and coach a Pop Warner Football Team in Waterville. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed. Surviving are a son Raymond, Jr. and his wife Betty Jo of Waterville; two daughters Elaine Forte of Vernon and Nancy Wemple of Rock City Falls; two sisters Teresa OBrien and her husband Robert of Midway, MA and Paula Wiltse of Schuyler Lake; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Fred, Frank, and Paul and a sister Laura Desmarais. A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 16th at 11:00 am in St. Bernards Cemetery, Waterville, with the Reverend Byron D. Stuhlman, Rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Waterville, officiating. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs. Memorial Donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice.
