Obituary

ILION Raymond Vaughn Moore, age 70, of North Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2012 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home. He had the comfort of his family at his side. Born on December 20, 1941, in Herkimer, he was a son of the late Victor and Dorothea Roberts Moore. He was educated in Waterville schools. On January 27, 1962, he married the former Joan Hojnowski in Poolville, a union of 34 years until her passing on January 15, 1996. He had worked for various local companies before starting his own business called R & C Janitorial, retiring in n 1991. Raymond was a man who had a variety of interests. He enjoyed farming, baking and watching NASCAR racing. The highlight of his life was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren who held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed playing practical jokes, especial on his brothers and as a friend he was always there to lend a helping hand. Surviving are five sons, Robert Moore, his wife Rose Marie, of Mohawk and their family, Karlee and Matthew; Brad Moore of Mohawk, Brent Moore, his wife Johnna of Quintman, MS, and their family, Jonah and Tanner; Raymond Moore, his wife Becky of Webster ,FL, and their family Raymond Jr., Sierra, and Cortney; Barry Moore of Ilion, three daughters, Bonnie Rice, her husband Ronald of Mohawk, and their family Samantha and Tyler; Barbara Higgins, her fianc Chuck DiGeorgio, Jr., of Ilion, and their family Kenneth and Kayla; Beth Cullen, her husband Edward of Mohawk, and their family, Rebecca, Heather, Rachael and Bryan; three brothers, Ronald Moore of Syracuse, Donald Moore and his wife Pamela of New Tripoli, PA, John Moore and his wife Martina of Cape Cod, MA, a sister, Phyllis Burshor and her husband Jerry of Brookeville, OH, one great granddaughter Molly, and sister-in-law June Moore of Houston, TX. Besides his parents and wife Joan, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Moore and sister-in law, Beverly Moore. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Victor McKusick, pastor of the Ilion Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
