TAMPA, FL-Raymond Frederick Raymonda age 76 formerly of Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 22, 2012 in the Tampa Veterans Administration Hospital, Tampa.
He was born on May 8, 1936 in Herkimer, son of the late Francis and Helen Smith Raymonda. Ray was raised in Herkimer and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1954. On January 12, 1955 he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in Guam. He was honorably discharged on December 12, 1958 attaining the rank of RM3. Mr. Raymonda was married to the former Dorothy Ade who preceded him in death on February 6, 2002. For many years he worked as an assembler for the Remington Arms Company in Ilion, retiring in 1989.
Ray took much pride in serving his country with his military service and was a member of Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post # 25 Mohawk where he was a Past Commander. While living in this area he was a member of Mohawk Lodge # 276 Free and Accepted Masons.
To his many friends, Ray will always be remembered as good natured man who loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
Surviving him are two daughters, Sandra Spisak of New Haven, KY, Ruth Bond Dushar and husband Wes of Richfield Springs, four sons, Anthony Terino of Frankfort, James Terino and wife Linda, Chris Terino and wife Sherry, David Terino and wife Michelle all of Tampa, one sister Eleanor Weber of Herkimer, fourteen grandchildren many great grandchildren several nieces , nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife Dorothy he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Raymond and a sister, Carol Raymonda.
Calling hours for Mr. Raymonda will be on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. In Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Funeral service will be on Tuesday January 1st at 2:00 pm in the funeral home Inc. The Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer will officiate. Interment with military honors will take place later this spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Members of Crowley Barnum American Legion Post # 25 are asked to meet at the funeral home at 5:30 pm for ritualistic services.
