Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS Raymond F. Richmond, Jr., age 83 of 690 West German Street, Herkimer, formerly of Linden Avenue, RichfieldSprings passed away Monday Afternoon January 24, 2011 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. He had the comfort of his loving wife Shirley at his side. Raymond was born on February 22, 1927 in Cranston, RI, son of the late Raymond F. and Edith Walsh Richmond. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs. In 1944 he answered the call of his country by enlisting in the Unites States Navy and served during World War II. After the war he returned home to Richfield Springs. On May 28, 1960 he united in marriage with the former Shirley Stocking in St. Johns Episcopal Church Richfield Springs. They have shared a blessed union of over fifty years. Mr. Richmond worked as an expediter for Univac in Utica and later with Mohawk Data Sciences in East Herkimer. From 1977 until 1987 he and his wife owned and operated the Chef Diner in Richfield Springs. He was a member of the Saint JohnsEpiscopal Church, Richfield Springs and the Richfield Springs Vets Club. In his leisure time he enjoyed bowling and playing golf. Ray cherished the memories of the many rounds of golf he played with his best friends, Tom Wilson, Pat Roberts and Bill Maksuta. They were truly his best friends and were always there for him. Ray will always be remembered as a caring, helpful and good natured man and will never be forgotten. Surviving are his wife, Shirley, one son, Raymond F. Richmond, III, two daughters, Kelley Richmond, Marcia Hudson and her husband Roger all of Richfield Springs, five grandchildren; Teddy Dziadik, Nathaniel Hudson, Braydon Hudson, Alexxus Hudson and Victoria Graml all of Richfield Springs, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Richard, William, Kenneth, and Arnold Richmond and two sisters, Inez Richmond and Gertrude Scalzo. A graveside memorial service with Naval Military Honors will take later this spring in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs. There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, RichfieldSprings. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Valley Health Service Inc., 690 West German Street, Herkimer, NY 13350.
