HERKIMER-Rebecca Joan George age 67, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon June 8, 2021 after an extended illness at the home of her sister. She had the comfort and support of her loving family at her side. Becki was born on May 28, 1954 in Herkimer, daughter of Joyce A. Weber Schrader and the late Rudolph M. Schrader Jr. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. An Honorably Discharged US Army veteran. It was in the military that she met and for a number of years was married to Douglas H. Gates. For many years she worked as a shipping clerk for the H. M. Quackenbush Company in Herkimer. She retired in 1999. On November 25, 2000 she was united in marriage to Dominick George. Becki had a strong belief in God and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. To all who knew her, they will never forget a warm and caring lady with an unforgettable smile and beautiful blue eyes. In her leisure time, she enjoyed being outdoors working with her flowers and caring for her vegetable garden. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are her devoted daughter, Nicole McLean of Cazenovia, her mother, Joyce A. Schrader, a sister Susan Schrader of Herkimer, one brother, Rudolph J. Schrader and his wife Kimberly of Mohawk, three grandchildren, Hannah McLean, Zoe McLean and Lauren McLean, her stepchildren Nicki George and Dominick George, Jr., five step grandchildren, Kenndal, Isaiah, Zachery, Anthony and Lena, her nieces and nephews and their children, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Calling hours for Becki will be on Saturday, June 12th, in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service with military honors will follow in the funeral home immediately after at 1:00 pm. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society, Wounded Warriors Project or Hospice and Palliative Care.
