TUCSON, AZ -Rene Elow Jacobs, age 85, formerly of Herkimer, passed away on Monday November 6, 2006 at the home of her son Bruce (Jake) Jacobs in Dublin, CA. She had the comfort of her loving children at her side. She was born on February 28, 1921 in Brooklyn , beloved daughter of the late Rose Lord Elow and Bernard Elow. She was married to Norman Jacobs on January 2, 1944 who preceded her in death in 1988. She had attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn before moving to Herkimer in 1935. After graduation from Herkimer High School in 1938 she attended Ohio State University and graduated from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City where she majored in marketing. During her life Rene was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was a member of the Mohawk Valley Country Club. She belonged to several organizations including Sisterhood and Bnai Brith. Survivors include her children: Alan and Jackie Jacobs of Newport, Bruce and Karen Jacobs of Dublin, CA, Heidi Jacobs Champ and her husband Tom of Cortez, CO; a brother, Kenneth and his wife Frances Elow of New Hartford; her sister-in-law, Sue Niemann; grandchildren, Jeremy and Traci Jacobs of CA, Justin Jacobs of Alabama, Toby and Simon Mijolovic of New York, Dorian Norman Champ of Colorado; and great-grandchildren, Ariel Jacobs and Michael Mijolovic. Besides her parents and husband Norman she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Milton Jacobs, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Elow. Rene will be missed by her good friends in Tucson , AZ and Upstate New York. Funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:00am in Temple Beth Joseph Cemetery, Herkimer. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Thursday evening (tonight) from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Telegram.
