Town of Columbia - Richard John Davis age 81 of Jordanville Road passed away on Monday July 16, 2012 in his home.
He was born on June 19, 1931 in Utica, son of the late Howard and Helen Clonan Davis. Richard was raised in Chadwicks where he was a graduate of Chadwicks High School.An honorably discharged US Air Force veteran he served proudly during the Korean War era.
For forty years, Mr. Davis worked in the shipping and receiving department of Mohawk Limited in Chadwicks.He retired in 1998. In 1999 he moved from West Edmeston to the town of Columbia where he has resided since.
To all who knew him he was a very patriotic individual who loved his country and its flag. He was a proud member of the Chadwicks American Legion Post # 1000 in Chadwicks. In his younger years, his leisure time was spent outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Surviving him are two sons, John Davis and his wife Sue of Vernon Center, Daniel J. Davis of Columbia Center, one daughter Tracey Burdick and her husband Scott of Frankfort Center, several grandchildren and special friend Tootsie Rondeau of Utica.Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Mark Davis in 2001.
At Mr. Davis request a graveside funeral service with military honors in the Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery, town of Columbia will be private and at the convenience family.
