Obituary

HERKIMER-Richard Allen Foster, age 75, passed away peacefully after an extended illness, on Friday evening, December 10, 2021, in the Abraham House, Utica. He was born on August 23, 1946, in Little Falls, son of the late Robert and Caroline Lashinski Foster. A lifelong area resident, he was raised in Fairfield and was a graduate of Little Falls High School. On July 19, 1966, he enlisted into the US Navy and proudly served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. During his service he was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was Honorably Discharged on April 1, 1970. On July 4, 1984, he was united in marriage to the former Pamela Ann Apodaca in Fairfield. They shared a loving and devoted union of twenty-eight years until she preceded him in death on May 1, 2012. Dick had graduated from nursing school where he became a Registered Nurse and more recently worked for Central Labs as a Phlebotomist. He retired in 2017. To those who knew him will never forget a caring, humble and sincere man with many talents. He excelled as a carpenter and made all the cabinets in his home. He enjoyed doing crafts for his wife and attended many craft fairs with her. He will be sorely missed by his many friends. A graveside funeral service with military honors provided by the US Navy will take place next spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street, Herkimer.
